Wildlife, wonder and why tourism can help Kenya emerge from the shadow of terrorism

“There are very, very few cancellations – some possibly from the US market but we haven’t been able to identify any from the European market, which is pretty resilient. The Westgate attack could have been London or Madrid. It was just Kenya’s bad luck. We need to be behind Kenya to get tourists to go. We should be supporting them.

We work very closely with the Foreign Office and its advice has been to avoid the area around the siege. We have to be vigilant and not brush Westgate under the carpet but with brown leaves and conkers here and blue skies and fluffy white clouds in Kenya it’s an excellent time to go. You won’t get a better game experience in the world.” – Nigel Vere Nicoll, head of the African Travel and Tourism Association
